The post holder will be required to deliver strategic aims and outcomes in relation to the Organisational Review of SPS and to ensure and assure the delivery of operational services and outputs in line with SPS policy and practice. You will represent SPS and Operations Directorate as required in an ambassadorial capacity in any dealings with internal and external partners to promote and deliver the Vision and Mission of SPS. You will also support wider SPS development and resilience on a national basis. 
Responsibilities
Fulfilling an ambassadorial role and modelling the professional values and behaviours required of SPS senior leaders, you will provide positive and professional leadership of staff, ensuring the establishment is well managed and positioned to deliver the strategic change programme and Vision of the SPS. In doing so, you will ensure the safe, proper and lawful administration of the prison and ensure that working practices ensure the health,safety and welfare of staff, visitors and prisoners
You will be accountable for the governance, continuous improvement and performance of the prison to required standards and for the delivery of key outputs and outcomes. You will develop and agree plans for the delivery of the SPS Corporate Plan at a local level through the Annual Delivery Plan and ensure the submission of prioritised Business Cases and plans.
You will display corporate leadership and contribute to national developments as required.
You will manage incidents in the prison estate within agreed frameworks and protocols. And ensure a robust audit and assurance process is in place to deliver standards and that these comply with corporate governance requirements.
You will manage budgets and financial targets to deliver required services and monitor the delivery of operational targets and efficiencies against the business plan. This will include monitoring the expenditure and efficiency financial targets incurred against allocation.
You will actively engage with key stakeholders within the prison and wider community to deliver corporate and local priorities of Scottish Government and the SPS. In doing so, you will manage and support local and national partnerships to further facilitate collaborative working, joint delivery and coproduction of services.

A minimum of 12 months experience of leading a large complex prison with substantial evidence of strong performance outcomes set against a multiplex of operational, strategic, leadership and partnership challenges.
