An opportunity has arisen within the Scottish Prison Service for a VOIP Infrastructure Specialist to work within the ISS team in the Scottish Prison Service Headquarters.

 

You will be responsible for assisting in the support of the SPS’ Cisco VOIP infrastructure, which is in the process of being implemented. This will involve not only the bringing on of sites as the project rolls out across Scotland, but supporting the business as usual element once the sites are live.

 

You will also assist in the support and maintenance of the SPS’ network infrastructure.


This post is offered on an initial 2 year fixed term with the extension into a permanent post highly likely.


 

Responsibilities
Technical support of SPS’ Cisco-based Unified Communications platforms (Cisco CUCM & Cisco TMS/VCS/MCU), and associated Hardware and Plant.
Technical support of SPS’ network infrastructure, (routers, switches, firewalls, Load Balancers etc.) primarily Cisco with a small number of Juniper firewalls also in place.
Provide design, engineering and project leadership on new or upgraded network projects.
Advice and guidance on relevant issues to ISS Management, Technical and Support Teams.
Participate in assignments and projects with minimal direction from higher level resources.

Qualifications Requirements
Cisco CCNP, Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP (Voice or UC), Polycom PCVE, Juniper JNCIA or equivalent. DESIRABLE
Experience Requirements
Technology training in IT, preferably in Network Technologies & Unified Communications Support / Design. DESIRABLE
Significant experience of working in the Unified Communications Support / Design fields. ESSENTIAL

Sound knowledge of Information & Communications Technology solutions.

Detailed knowledge of Unified Comms architecture and integration.

In depth knowledge and experience of network security and security controls.

General Windows and Unix / Linux operating systems experience.

Working knowledge of integrated and non-integrated VC systems.

Experience and/or strong working knowledge of multiple VC platforms (e.g., Polycom, Tandberg, Cisco, etc.)

DESIRABLE

Knowledge Skills Requirements
Liaison with key business stakeholders for system billing, administration, assurance and change controls. DESIRABLE
Advanced networking understanding and skills; including firewall compliance with video standards. ESSENTIAL
Ability to test, troubleshoot and work independently to resolve both customer and executive issues with the ability to work effectively with a range of customers at all levels of the organisation and externally when resolving technical conferencing issues. ESSENTIAL
Excellent communication and problem solving skills with the ability to project a calm and professional demeanour during stressful situations. ESSENTIAL
