The Prison Chaplain, as part of the chaplaincy team, is responsible for the provision of chaplaincy services to all persons in custody at HMP & YOI Grampian.  This involves conducting worship and providing pastoral care within the establishment, including individual and group work concerning prayer, the study of holy books, and discussions of matters spiritual and ethical.  Duties will be carried out in co-operation with members of the ecumenical and multi-faith chaplaincy team.

Responsibilities
Be responsible with colleagues form the same tradition for the conduct of worship in the establishment at all times and places agreed including arrangements for or the administration of the sacraments as appropriate.
Work together with colleagues in the multi-faith Chaplaincy Team and with other disciplines in the prison to support the SPS vision: 'Unlocking Potential - Transforming Lives'.
Making arrangements as required for religious instruction for the Chaplain's own other religious denominations.  This will include individuals and group work concerning prayer, study of holy books and discussion of matters spritual and ethical, including classes for religious confirmation of belief.
Facilitate the practice of all recognised Religions and Beliefs as required within the establishment.
Be available to provide holistic spritual and pastoral care to all; with a priority for the vulnerable, for new admissions, for those on Talk to Me, the bereaved and for those in segregation units.  Chaplains should respond to all requests as soon as practical.  Chaplains should also be available to staff.
Liaise with Churches and Faith Communities concerning throughcare support as appropriate.

Qualifications Requirements
Ordained Minister, Office-bearer or Post-holder, who is a recognised representative from a denomination or association of the Reformed Tradition of the Christian Church in good standing with, and suitably accredited by, their Church.  ESSENTIAL
Theological/Pastoral qualification at a recognised Theological College or equivalent.  DESIRABLE
Experience Requirements
Appropriate knowledge and experience in pastoral care and religious practice in a church setting or equivalent.  ESSENTIAL
Awareness of pastoral challenges within a prison setting.  ESSENTIAL
Previous experience of work within a prison environment or similar.  DESIRABLE
Knowledge Skills Requirements
Basic knowledge of different faith systems and beliefs.  ESSENTIAL
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate well to people of different social backgrounds and life experiences.  ESSENTIAL
Ability to work as part of an ecumenical and multi-faith Chaplaincy team, with persons of differing Faiths and beliefs, and as part of other multi-disciplinary teams in the prison and community.  ESSENTIAL
Flexible and positive approach to the role with the ability to organise, co-ordinate, and manage a busy workload with minimal supervison.  ESSENTIAL.
