The Prison Chaplain, as part of the chaplaincy team, is reasonsable for the provision of chaplaincy services to al persons in custody at HMP Grampian, This involves conducing workship and providing pastrol care within the establishment, including individual and group work concerning prayer, the study of holy books, and discussions of matters spiritual and ethical.  Duties will be carried out in co-operation with members of the ecumenical and multi-faith chaplaincy team.

Responsibilities
Be responsible with colleagues from same tradition for the conduct of workship in the establishment at all times and places agreed including arrangements for or the administration of the sacraments as appropriate.

Work together with colleagues in the multi-faith Chaplaincy Team and with other disciplines in the prison to suport the SPS vision: 'Unlocking Potential - Transforming Lives'


Make arrangements as required for religious instruction fo rthe Chaplain's own and other religious denominations.  This will include individual and group work concerning prayer, study of holy books and discussion of matters spiritual and ethical, including classes for religious confirmation of belief.
Facilitate the practice of all recognised Religions and Beliefs as required within the establishment.
Be available to provide holistic spiritual and pastoral care to all, with a priority for the vulnerable, for new admissions, for those on Talk to Me, the bereaved and for those in segregation units.  Chaplains should respond to all requests as soon as practical.  Chaplains should also be available for staff.
Liaise with Churches and Faith Communities concerning throughcare support as appropriate.

Qualifications Requirements
Ordained Minister of the Church of Scotland in good standing.  (Essential)
Theological/Pastoral qualification at a recognised Theological College or equivalent.  (Essential)
Experience Requirements
Appropriate knowledge and experience in pastoral care and religious practice in a church setting or equivalent.  (Essential)
Awareness of pastoral challenge within a prison setting.  (Essential)
Previous experience of work within a prison environment or similar.  (Desirable)
Knowledge Skills Requirements
Basic knowledge of different faith systems and beliefs.  (Essential)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate well to people of different social backgrounds and life experiences.  (Essential)
Ability to work as part of an ecumental and multi-faith Chaplaincy team. with persons of differing Faiths and beliefs, and as part of other multi-disciplinary teams in the prison and community.  (Essential)
Flexible and positive approact to the role with the ability to organise, co-ordinate, and manage a busy workload with minimal supervision.  (Essential)
