35.5 per week: Tuesday – Friday, 7.30am – 4pm, Saturday 8am – 1.30pm
The post holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of all mail items for the establishment in line with the National
SPS Policy & Standard operating Procedure There may be a requirement to work in various other administration departments.
Responsibilities
Correctly identify all mail into relevant categories i.e. Prisoner Confidential Correspondence/Prisoner General Correspondence/General
Correspondence together with any damaged mail items.
Complete relevant inventory sheets as per standard operating procedure.
Check all prisoner mail to ensure all named prisoners are located within the establishment.
To maintain accurate records for all mail processes as per standard operating procedures.
To ensure and evidence compliance with the current GMA on Prisoners Correspondence and associated Prison Rules.
To comply with any other duties deemed necessary, which are commensurate with their grade.

Qualifications Requirements
ESSENTIAL - Minimum of 2 National 5 (or equivalent) qualifications including English and Mathematics or relevant experience gained
in a similar role and/or environment.
Experience Requirements
ESSENTIAL - Competent in MS Office Packages (including Microsoft Word and Excel).
ESSENTIAL - Experience of working in an administration setting.
ESSENTIAL - Ability to effectively prioritise workload to meet departmental and organisational deadlines.
Knowledge Skills Requirements
ESSENTIAL - Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral.
ESSENTIAL - Ability to use Information and Communication Technologies as effective business tools.
ESSENTIAL - Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external agencies.
ESSENTIAL - Awareness of GDPR and the requirement for confidentiality.
