Competencies for Success Framework
To support your application, please refer to the Competencies for Success Framework, or CSF for short, which is the SPS behavioural competency framework. The CSF outlines the behaviours that are essential to support effective performance in all roles within the SPS. Whilst all eight behaviours are critical to support our collective success, during the recruitment process you will be assessed against a maximum of four of the eight essential behaviours outlined in the CSF. Using the CSF alongside the Job Description and Person Specification for the role you are applying for, will help you to understand the behaviours being assessed. Additionally, the CSF is a really useful resource to support you to reflect on and prepare how you can demonstrate these behaviours throughout your evidence during the recruitment and selection process
If successful in your application, you will be joining the civil service and will become a civil servant. By doing so you must be able to comply with the Civil Service Code requirements of honesty, integrity, objectivity and impartiality. For further information, please visit https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/civil-service-code/the-civil-service-code.
Our recruitment processes are underpinned by the principle of selection for appointment on merit on the basis of fair and open competition as outlined in the Civil Service Recruitment Principles and our recruitment activity is regulated by the Civil Service Commission.
If you feel your application has not been treated in accordance with the Principles and you wish to make a complaint, you should contact the Employee Resourcing Manager, Scottish Prison Service College, in the first instance. If you are not satisfied with our response you may bring your complaint to the attention of the Civil Service Commission. Further information on the Commission’s complaint procedure can be found at http://civilservicecommission.independent.gov.uk.
